Macy’s Shop for a Cause
By Sue Pinkham
Thank you so much everyone for making Macy's Shop for a Cause a successful fundraiser for RSDSA! We had a wonderful day yesterday at my local Macy's in Kingston, Massachusetts. Macy's made Karen Richards, a ten year old girl who suffers with CRPS, their Macy's Shop for a Cause Representative for a day. They dressed her up in a beautiful Macy's outfit, did her makeup and hair, and introduced her as Macy's Special Guest. Macy's had a fashion show and Karen had a front row center seat to enjoy the festivities. The manager of Macy's walked Karen to her seat after a brief introduction of who she was and what she suffers from. Karen was MAGNIFICENT! After the fashion show, Karen walked the Macy's store, gave out Hershey Kisses to the customers, and sold Macy's ‘Shop for a Cause’ coupons. Karen explained to the customers what the coupons were and that the money would benefit RSDSA's research and awareness programs. What an incredible ambassador for the CRPS community—I am so proud of her.
So far, we have raised over $2750—thanks to everyone's time, effort, and commitment to finding a CURE or at least better treatments for CRPS.
