RSDSA mails 57,000 Telltale Signs of CRPS cards to
members of the American Academy of Physicians to increase
awareness
The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Association of America (RSDSA)
has mailed the Telltale Signs of CRPS card and an accompanying
letter, headlined, "A minute of your time can prevent
a lifetime of suffering," to nearly 57,000 active members
of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The mailing
details the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate
treatment for patients with RSD/CRPS and stresses the devastating
results- in terms of health, family relationships, work, and
finances- of inadequate care.
Three weeks after the mailing, more than 400 physicians called
the office to request copies of Living With RSDS, by Linda
Lang and Peter Moscovitz, MD, or to obtain additional copies
of the Handicard for staff members or patients.
In this, the decade of Pain Control and Research, the RSDSA
is committed to educating and raising awareness of CRPS
among the healthcare community. We targeted Family Physicians
first because they are most often the first point of contact
patients CRPS have. RSDSA is currently raising funds to
do a similar mailing to active members of the American Academy
of Neurology.
